Daniel Venteo

Daniel Venteo is a historian and museologist, specialising in urban history, heritage and the memory of Barcelona. He is the author of over thirty books on the city and the country, and has developed much of his professional career at the intersection of historical research, publishing, exhibitions and cultural dissemination.

Over the years he has worked on major themes of Barcelona's history — the old city, the Eixample, historical photography, archives, institutions, everyday life and urban transformation — with an approach that combines documentary rigour and narrative ambition. This way of working has led him to publish reference works and to curate exhibitions and public projects for cultural institutions.

His books and exhibitions share a common underlying idea: history is not merely a narrative of the past, but a tool for better understanding the city we inhabit. Barcelona, in this regard, is not only his principal subject of work: it is also a permanent field of reading.
